However, for the farmers of Gatauli village, under Julana tehsil in Jind district, their land had been a source of deep anguish for the past 40 years. Due to lack of drainage facilities, rain and floodwater would accumulate in the fields every year. The conditions were so dire that approximately 1000 acres of extremely fertile agricultural land in the village had been waterlogged for 35-40 years.
